In and around Tilbury CoveTilbury Cove is a villa complex located on the NSW South Coast peninsula of Penguin Head, walking distance from the town of Culburra. It is just two and a half hours drive by car from Sydney or Canberra, and twenty minutes from Nowra. Bus services access Culburra from Bomaderry train station, just north of Nowra. Within walking distanceThe villa at Number 6 looks over Tilbury Cove and the connecting Culburra Beach, stretching 3 kilometres to the lighthouse at Orient Point; just perfect for energetic morning or peaceful evening walks. Or relax on the balcony and watch the sunset over the purple hued mountains to the west. Dolphins have been known to frolic in the shallows of the cove, so keep your eyes open! EssentialsTilbury Cove is only twenty minutes drive from Nowra where you will find a large supermarket and shopping complex, which caters for everything from beef steak to boogie boards! However, all your everyday needs can be found at the local stores in the town of Culburra. Swimming/surfingThe quiet waters of the Cove provide an excellent opportunity for younger children to enjoy smaller waves and build sand castles, whilst a little further along is Culburra Beach which provides excellent and safe surfing for all ages. The bay also has some excellent snorkelling opportunities. Over the other side of the peninsula (just one minute walk away!) is Warrain Beach which faces East to the ocean, a favourite of surfboard riders. This beach is patrolled by the Nowra Surf Life Saving Club. Nature watchingA short stroll along to Pengiun Head, no more than five minutes, brings you to arguably the best spot on the NSW coast for watching whales. The view from here encompasses nearly the full circle, from Crookhaven Heads in the north west, Black Head to the north, the wonderful expanse of the Tasman Sea, Jervis Bay in the south, and the Culburra lake to the south west. The lake is a haven for birdlife and bird watchers and is also easy walking distance. Between October and March the little terns fly here from Siberia to breed.
